Unhappy Beware of ESP

Just wanted to let everyone know that the Extended Service Plan (ESP) is not what you think it is. I recently had the front two lifter's or cams start to have metal come off of them. These metal shavings made there way their way into the oil pump which circulated around and wiped out my crank. The issue being that ESP DOES NOT pay for any diagnostic time. They did pay for the repairs, but until the problem was diagnosed and found to be a covered repair I was on the hook for the tech's time. The ESP did cover the repairs less the $50 deductible. But to find the issue was about 4 hours of time at $100 per hour. So my rebuilt motor costs me about $450 but was cheaper than paying the whole bill of $4500. So beware you are definitely on the hook for some of the repair time unless it is really obvious what the problem is.

Not 100% true. What I think ESP is,...Is a "money maker" for the MOCO! Trust me, you collected way more the the average buyer of the ESP ever will. ...Good for ya too!!

If you take the time to actually read it there should be no surprises. ESP is not an extended warranty as it is commonly called. It is, as you stated, an extended service plan.

Sounds to me like you came out pretty good on the repair. Not sure what you're complaining about.

Ditto. Sounds like that thing just saved you 4 grand. Not too shabby in my eyes.

Car, appliance, bike warranties are all a rip off IMO - most of the time you never need them - in this case you did get some value out of it but most don`t.

I'd rather buy it and when I buy the bike than have to come up with for example $4500. bucks plus the bike payment.
I've had 4 new Harleys and bought the ESP each time and it always paid off before I got the bike paid off However I do ride my bike atleast 15,000 miles per year

My ESP is about to expire next month. The only time I used it in the last two years was last month.
Needed a voltage regulator. $48.00 for the Voltage Regulator, $194.00 for labor.
$50.00 for deductable. I paid only $50.00. Not sure if I will renew next month or not.
