They did pay for the repairs, but until the problem was diagnosed and found to be a covered repair I was on the hook for the tech's time. The ESP did cover the repairs less the $50 deductible. But to find the issue was about 4 hours of time at $100 per hour. So my rebuilt motor costs me about $450 but was cheaper than paying the whole bill of $4500. So beware you are definitely on the hook for some of the repair time unless it is really obvious what the problem is.
Why did you purchace the ESP if it was not what you thought it was? Huh?

I have to think the ESP is a good thing if (1) you can afford it and (2) you're not doing most of your own work on the bike.

I've purchases an extended service plan on most of my vehicles and on more than one occasion it has paid off. In fact, from my perspective, if you actually have to use it, it'll pay for itself with the first use.

If nothing else, it gives some additional peace of mind.

Just my .02 worth.

Well said! ESP is a solid value. Read the contract!

Never purchased any extended warranties or extended services plans. I think that most people loose money on them. I have 1700 dollars in new cams and gear driven cams with an oil pump change out with 50,000 miles on a seven year old bike. Got 100 dollars tied up in a voltage regulator on a 12 year old bike with 25,000 miles on it. Both HD's have needed batteries, tires, oil, filters, and gas.

You have a seven year old bike with 50,000 and a 12 year old bike with 25,000. The plan wouldn't pay for you to have it. I have a 2 1/2 year old bike with 80,000 on it. It will pay for itself with me.

Same as anything, if you put on the miles it is a good deal. If you don't ride quite as much it probably isn't.
