Riding alone ..

My wife loves the us time on the Harley. If we meet someone on the road we may ride together but generally leave and return alone. We enjoy the road.

I'd like to ride more with just the wife but she feels more secure with at least one more bike. She says if something breaks, there's always someone to go for help, which makes sense but I am going to push her to do a 1 bike trip. She loves to go with 2 or 3 other couples. Course the couples she like to ride with are very low maintenance.

Small groups are my preference. There's usually 4 of us. I have no problem riding alone though. I'll do large groups too but not as often.

I;ll ride alone sometimes or now that my wife rides her own sporty I'll go out with her , I also have a couple good buddies that I ride with as well more on longer rides, my wife will come as well and does quite well, one day I hope she moves upto my 02 wide glide.

Actually, I have NO riding buddies anymore--couple of my friends lost their bikes due to re-possesion, a couple of them have trouble getting permission from the OL to go riding; I don't even bother with them anymore. one has moved away, another is an over the road trucker who's never here. My only riding buddy is my girlriend, who rides her own RoadKing. But that's OK; I prefer to ride by myself--no schedules, I go & stop where I want, ride at my own speed, etc.

I took about a 4 hour solo ride today. I loved it. It was birthday and that was my present to myself. Went on some mild twisties and just took my time and meandered. Let a couple of cars pass. I've fairly new on this bike so I like taking my time to get used to it.
When you think about it, even in a group you're pretty much alone with your thoughts unless you're on headphones with each other which I've never done. I find it safer, too as when I ride with my HOG group changing lanes with 40 bikes can be a little hairy and I feel I need to keep up if they're going faster than my comfort level at the time.
