1000 mile service: does it have to be exactly 1K miles?

Yes, you have to time it perfectly so you roll into the service dept at exactly 1k miles or you're screwed.

I've done it as early as 600 miles and as late as 1500--- no big deal!!

At 1,001 miles the engine,trans, and clutch will self destruct if all new fluids are not changed. AND you have to use a shop vac to make sure you get every drop oil old oil out. If you don't the **** Oil God will give you bad dreams about dirty oil. In fact, it won't hurt to dismantle the engine just to be safe. You never know where there might be a cavity where oil pools. C'MON MAN!!!

You guys are joking, and rightfully so....however, if you look in your owners manual (not the service manual), your little owners manual, it states the bike should be taken in before 1000 miles.

I heard one guy went in at 1002 and they took the bike back and wouldn't give him a refund.
