I hate to read about these accidents but it is sad no matter what contributed to it.

Some posts got me wondering though. Are those using the opportunity to proclaim that they don't like to be told what to do, the same ones that tell others not to use a trailer?

Just wondering.

I always take the media with a block of salt. Even events I was involved in seem quite different in the news. Up here if you get killed on a Hog the news reads Joe died while riding his Harley Davidson..... If your not on a Hog it will read Joe died ridng his motorcycle. As if riding a Hog or a Ringy Ding 850 Special makes a differance. The helmet issue is really a BS point pushed by a lack of experience on the reporters side. I would prefer the option as at any speed over 30 Mph all the helmet does is make it easier for the clean up crew. If you want to wear a helmet go ahead if not don't.
Don't start with the helmetless should pay higher premiums due to higher medical costs. If that held water than Joe crotch rocket should sell his soul to ride as his bike can go 0 to 100 in about a quarter mile. Should be based on the rider not the bike.

This all reminds me of a new insurance commercial I've heard on the radio. Goes something like, "...72% of all motorcycle fatalities in Hawaii were riders not wearing a helmet." Don't remember the exact wording but you get my gist. Anyway, the fact is, 72% of riders in Hawaii don't wear helmets and the other 28% do. So, by my calculations that makes the whole statistic a wash.
