Grrrr! Gravel is gonna kill me!

i guess you've never had your foot slip on sand/gravel/smooth road surface before? it doesn't matter how long your legs are, how aggressive your boot soles are, if you try to push 900 lbs and you're on a less than perfect surface, odds are your foot is gonna slip. if you're lucky, you'll recover without dropping your bike, but thats not always the case.
I don't feel nearly so stupid about this situation following some recent conversations with some friends of mine who ride much more than I do. Almost without exception, every one of them have laid their bikes over or had some bad experience somewhere in South Texas because of the pea gravel construction companies use around here.

Nevermind him! If you drink, you're a douche. If you don't wear ATGATT, you're a douche. And now it seems if you won't ride in the snow, evidently you are also a douche.

roll into the parking lot slow but steady and lay OFF the Front brake. Do not put your feet down until you are almost stopped. this should keep the initial slippage of the boot at a minimum. Pea gravel is the worst, we have wash gravel, crushed limestone and clay gravel in MS as well as pea gravel. hate it all

Yep, I learned the hard way and now use my back break when on gravel........

Short of changing bars and taking my truck instead of the bike, got any tips on how to prevent this in the future?
