Disappointed FLTR Ultra

Road glide custom=$19,000 power pak upgrade=$2,000, buy tour pak and lowers=$1,500. I don't think that if Exxamo ordered that these figures are to far off. One is still going to need to buy a receiving dock for the tour pak and other things that come up. I still think you will be happier getting a vivid black and putting some custom paint. As we all get older, we lower our standards on many things. I don't know what the 103 engine is going to need to wake it up.

....... buy a '10 denim X, find a used TP, lowers & an Ultra take-off saddle on ebay, rattle can them flat black, ride it till MoCo makes what'cha want, strip the extra parts & resell'm on ebay & then trade in the X.
.............. though it'd likely be easier just to develop an appreciation for shiney

Yup, MP, they didn't make the road glide ultra in 2010. That's why I spent a ton of money on it. There are quite a few members who have built their own road glide ultra's prior to Harley Davidson's introduction of the model. I am sure you are aware of this. They are great touring bikes.

I can understand this, black denim rocks. It aint just a flat black either - has a kinda eggshell sheen clear coat. If you buy a shiny one and then paint the tin/plasticware you can also get a few extras coated at the same time - go for it I say....

I talked to the dealership today and asked for a recommendation for a paint shop like someone on here had pointed out. I was quoted $2500 to change it to black denim. I think that is the route I am gonna go with it.

seriously....
You have 2 options.... buy the FLTRX, in the color your want, and add what "upgrades" you want...
or
buy the FLTRU, and get it painted. $2500 seems "light" when I think of the prices I hear. Plus you'll have the bike out of commision for a while.
Personally.... I think you'd be better off buying the X, and adding what you want, when you get aroud to it.
It's usually cheaper to buy the ULTRA version, than go and add the goodies, but factoring in the cost of the paint, AND the time it will take. My experience is the GOOD painters are chronic liars... they will give you a reasonable schedule.... but take 2-3 times as long. But their work is worth the wait.
