I had a higher lift cam in mine until a few weeks ago, and then swapped in the 27. The old cam did not really "come alive" until I hit the upper rpm range, but the 27 opened that up for me. Great response across the board for me, and still great on the highway. One of the best things that I have done for rideability, on this bike.

Had one in my 95 Road King, I think the EV 27 was one of the best cams made for an Evo engine. One of the best $$$$$ per HP investments you could make. Makes a good mid-level screamer with no loss in reliability.
I worked at a Harley dealer in OKC and we installed a Kajillion of em. In fact, they were so reliable that we tried to steer our customers to the EV 27, instead of some of other cams. They made very "happy" customers.

Just my $.02 worth.

I also had one in my '95, you won't be sorry for picking that cam for street riding.

I had one in my '88 FXRS and was definitely happy. I had great performance in the 2500-5000 RPM range. I didn't do much above 5000 but the few times I really got crazy she would pull all they way to the redline. The only bike I rode with that could take my FXR was a hot 88" S&S.

Have an EV27 cam in my 99 Fatboy. Love it! Pulls like a bear in every gear from very low RPM's through 5 grand. Good buy...reliable vendor. This cam compliments the crane H1-4E single fire ignition and jetted carb with free flow exhaust. Maybe someday I will get to the heads...if only cash was as free flowing as my exhaust. Good luck

the ev27 works well with stock compression, but really works good with about 9.5 to 1. I did this to my 98 flsts with kb pistons, dyno said 10 more hp.

Had one on my 98 super glide. Had a 42 mikuni with single fire ingnition and V+H 2into1 exhaust. When you hit 3,000 RPMs it was like you hit afterburners! Good low end and very smooth when cruising. Best cam I've ever put in an Evo.

P.S. Make sure you change that inner bearing.
