Most common breakdowns.......just curious.

For me it has been battery/stator issues. Have been stuck on the side of the road four times because of this. Sometimes its just that the battery crapped out, and sometimes its because the stator went bad causing the battery to crap out. And no, my bike will not run without a charged battery...anytime I get under about 15 mph it will die, and even at speed it will sputter, cough, lunge and just generally ride like crap. I have learned to change out the battery like clockwork after two years, which has helped. And yes, I also know that most get more years out of their batteries.

34000 miles on my 07 wg. Only issue was it shook both rear exhaust mount nuts loose. Took it as a sign the bike was rejecting the stock system, so I installed v & H big shots and haven't had a problem since.

havent had any problems, well except voltage regulator..replaced under warranty. but you asked for suggestions on what to carry...spare headlight bulb, relay(for fuel pump), tie wraps, electrical tape and tire plug/patch kit w/small compressor to get somewhere to have tire replaced, leatherman multi-tool

Does it seem things happen in threes? My 05 RG just went over 24,000 and the Toe Shifter came loose on Tuesday switched it with the heal shifter That night. Friday nite the clamp bolt came loose so I tighted the heck out of it and put some blue lock tight on it then as I was putting shift linkage back on the read shift rode lever the front ball joint came apart. Got a stock one from Whitt's HD this morning so I can go riding tonight and Sunday. I cranked down on the shifting levers and added blue lock tight on them and the ball joints.
ULTRA 09, I'll be getting some stronger ball joints as soon as I find some. I've added two tubes of lock tight and a 1/2 &7/16 wrench to my tool bag.
I've read about a throttle cables breaking too. However, I have no idea of the time frame or mileage they tend to fail, except they fail about 450 miles up the ALCAN Highway.
I'm adding y'alls suggestions to my Arctic Circle Trip Folder.
Thanks again!

My current 2009 Ultra Classic had the front tire replaced at 1000 miles, the starter switch replaced at 9500 miles and now the starter is being replaced at 11,500 miles.

i have put 20k on my 08 ultra weekend runs and never had a problem. starter went out on it, but that was in my driveway. no issues at all on the road... other than i cant find the AC on button. gets a little hot in San diego... but i can live without the AC, i guess.
