How does it beat a DOT helmet? I have a DOT 3/4 jet helmet and it is really comfortable.

 

I am not going to argue helmet comfort on the forum. It's all a matter of personal taste and comfort. Everyone of us is different and I think you know that. If you are happy with your DOT helmet GREAT! Im happy for you.

The OP must have been doing something to have attracted the trooper's attention in the first place. Any time you skirt the law you take the chance of getting caught. No whining allowed when you do.

 

I wasn't bitchin or complaining. I was simply giving a heads up that VT is stepping up enforcement of DOT requirement. As to why i wear a NON-DOT helmet...one word COMFORT.

 

Man that guy had hawk eyes for sure LOL! well at least you did not get a real ticket-that was fair. It's nice Oh does not have a helmet law, well we do if you have you temps or are in your first year of having your endorsment-after that do what you want.

 

WHY Some of you TAKE a < INFO ALERT> as whineing i'll never know, Fact is with CASH Strapped communitys, many P Depts are told to issue tickets for Helmet abuse or loud pipes, that never bothered before( least here on Long Island NY), WHY jump on the other members when some are only putting out some INFO< RELAX

 

Hawk eyes? It's not hard to spot a wafer thin cereal bowl on top of someone's head. Isn't that why everyone wears NON DOT beanies, because they hate the "mushroom" look of the DOT's?

 

That is how we beat the Florida helmet law. It started with a local cop giving novelty helmets tickets. Our lawyer argued that and the court agreed that if he didn't see you put the DOT sticker on how was he to know it wasn't approved. We won that round. Next step was challangeing the DOT list of approved helmets. that was taken to the 2nd district court of appeals where we also prevailed. Eventually the florida helmet law was ruled unconstitutunal. in 1999-2000
