Default Need some help

Posted this with the Dyna folks, but I thought that it would be a better idea to get everyone's thoughts and advice on a problem I had today with my '08 FXDC. I was out for a ride with some friends when the bike started to run a little rough and the throttle response was sluggish. I thought that I might be low on gas at first, but that wasn't the problem. Here are some more of the symptoms:

- smell of gas
- excessive fuel usage, I used nearly half a tank covering 30 - 40 miles
- pipe from front cylinder looks wet (see pic)
- pipe from rear cylinder looks dry (see pic)
- running with the throttle nearly fully open in 5th gear, but barely able to maintain 65 mph
- bike surged a couple of times, acting like it normally would at full throttle in 5th

I'm thinking possibly a bad/stuck/clogged fuel injector at the front cylinder. If it was a clogged/bad fuel filter, I don't think that the pipe would be wet.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance for the help.

More info needed. Any kind of tuner? How many miles? Warranty? Bad gas?

Engine's still stock; 4700+ miles; warranty's expired (didn't get the extended warranty); I don't think the gas was bad.

If you end up becoming a parts changer to find the problem, you could end up cost you more in the long run.

That's what I'm afraid of. I'm trying to narrow the possibilities down before I do anything with it.

first confirm you are getting spark from both wires. Make sure the wires to your coil are pluged in all the way too.

Could it be in limp mode? A bad head temp sensor? Only one cyl firing?

Checked the plugs, they're all snug. I think that you might be right that the sensor might be bad. It seems that it may either be the sensor or a fouled injector that's stuck open and is shooting so much fuel into the cylinder that it can't fire. I might try some injector cleaner to see if that makes any difference.

'preciate the help.

Is the ECM pushing a code? Do you have a diagnostic tool.

The codes aren't the end all be all but it is a start if you have the tool.
