I'm a new rider and I started with a full face helmet. I've been using it for about 4 months, until recently. Someone knocked it off my bike when I was in a store and the parts holding the visor on broke off, and it's now useless.

I have a half helmet here was that given to me. But I can't help but feel retarded wearing it. It looks stupid on me.

Is this something that a person grows into? Or can some people just not pull it off?

Do you want the helmet for looks or protection? If for the way it looks, I can't help you there. If you want one that offers good protection, I would suggest investing in a new properly fitted quality FF.

 

You sure you can't get parts to fix your full-face? The bracket that holds the visor on my 3/4 broke and I was able to purchase a new bracket. Good as new.

 

Mine isn't replaceable, it's just one big piece. I wanted to make the transition to half, but I just don't feel like it suits me.

 

As far as vanity goes, I kinda have to agree. I hate the way I look with anything on my head; hats, helmets; even sunglasses. The thing is no one else see you this way. I believe we really do look stupid but only to us. No one else cares.

As for full face, half or otherwise, full face helmets may be the best for saftey but to me, they look funny on a bagger. I like the half-helmet highway patrol look on my RK. But, I've seen the pictures of me. It's not working.

I have a roadglide and I like the visibility and breezeiness of a half shell; however, on long interstate rides or in opt for a full face. They are quieter and more comfortable for long interstate rides.

I feel the same way about the half helmet. I look like the great gazoo. I seem to notice that other people wearing the same helmet don't look bad. I guess I would have to agree with DBlass, no one else notices.

I had two friends burst into laughter after seeing me with the helmet on for the first time. Whatever, I'm going to have a sticker made for it that says "Hello Dumb Dumb!"
