My first street bike was a Yamaha XS-400, it was a couple years old but in nice condition when I got it in 1978. I wanted a Harley even then, but being 14 couldn't afford one. And yes, the age thing did bite me (no license ticket, the officer strangely told me to ride straight home. That couldn't happen today...).

Mine was a green 1978 Kawasaki KZ400. I rode the hell out of that thing.

'78 Yamaha 175 Enduro, bought it for $20 not running. Pulled the cylider off and massaged the piston and cyliner walls with some emory cloth to get rid of the score marks from running without oil. Put it back together and it ran like a champ for 3 years, until I blew a hole in the piston trying to keep up with a buddy on his street bike. Oooops, lol.

1978 Honda CB 550 K. I bought it off of my bosses son for $125.00 + my old Craftsman rollaway tool chest. I rode it for two years and sold it back to him for $750.00 which went torwards my first Sportster. His brother totalled the poor Honda since then.

A very used black Honda S90 (Super 90) mid '60s year model. While all of the other kids had Rupp mini bikes to ride on, my little brother and I had a "real" motorcycle to ride around in the woods on and we could shift gears too! Can you say suspension? (compared to the other mini bikes that is.) Oh, if my parents only knew about all of the crap we did with that thing. WOW, the memories!
