Riding with my right forefingers on the brake lever saved my butt yesterday.
I was riding yesterday in a small town called Northville. Riding south in the city on a 2 lane highway a Ford Edge heading north in the opposite direction tries a U-turn right in front of me TO TRY TO GET INTO A PARALLEL PARKING SPOT on my side of the street. Well the jerkoff can't do it and stops blocking my lane. I always ride with my forefingers on the brake lever and stopped 2 feet from broadsiding his passenger side rear door. He then panicks and backs up, goes forward, goes up the curb, backs up, and then forward again and parks. I pull my bike right up to the side of this jackass' window and I'm mouthing all kinds of foul words. He just sat there and stared forward. A car a couple vehicles behind me someone gave a short honk to get me going.
I've been riding this way for awhile. Takes a little time to get used to but it does make braking quicker and easier.

Called covering your levers. Taught in class's. Good save but I bet just shaking your head would have got the message through--all that verbiage just gets your blood pressure up. The dumbass knew he was a dumbass.

When riding in towns, left hand is over the brake lever, right foot really close to rear brake lever and right hand ready to grab the clutch lever. Eyes are constantly moving, looking under parked cars, checking mirrors, watching for sudden movement.

For a couple seconds the vehicle was coming right at me. I'll tell ya guys I thought that was it. Good thing I didn't hit him 'cause if I'd gone down I WOULD HAVE BEEN PISSED and would be looking for some payback.
