I hit a buzzard two years ago this month on my way to "Little Sturgis". We were on a two lane highway coming up on a long bridge and meeting a 18 wheeler log truck. The buzzard's were feeding on road kill in the middle of the bridge ans I kept waiting for them to fly away.

Finally when about 30 yards away one flew left, one right. I was concerned with the one that flew left because I knew the log truck was gonna take him out and throw him at us. But the buzzard made a safe escape, barely.

The one that flew right dropped down below the bridge for a secon or two then flew up and directly in front of me. Smash, I got him. He bounced off my wimpshield hit me in the left shoulder and if My wife hadn't slowed and been staggered where she normally rides it would have landed in her lap.

As soon as I see them on the road, I start slowing down and hitting the horn, hoping to get them to rise before I get there.

Also had a duck get me in the boat one time.

Another Duck Hunter shot it, it was like a " Kamikaze Duck ",,, knocked me out of my pedestal seat, felt like it broke my arm...

Can't imagine one of those big things hitting someone..

Thats sad..

""Reed was wearing a helmet. He was pronounced dead at the scene".

There you go."

So your saying if he had no helmet he would of lived?

Wearing a helment does not protect the rest of the body from receiving fatal injuries.

There's never a good way to go. I had a hawk swoop in front of me on 415 heading home from Daytona w/my SO on the back. The darn thing turned in my direction of travel and was so close I could make out all of the detail on his wing feathers. All I could think of doing was roll off the throttle which must've given him just enough time to break hard right. I wasn't really sure he'd avoided the ground on the second jink, but i wasn't going looking either.
