Run her riding clothes through the washer for an extra cycle without any detergent or fabric softener. Even trace amounts of detergent or other stuff in the fabric can cause a reaction if it is flapping against the skin for a prolonged period of time . . . particularly if the temperature is high.

Just have her wear thick knee high socks with her boots. That should help. It worked for my wife.

Just make sure that the socks are above the boot lip always. No matter how snug the boot top is,the rub effect of movement of the top of boot on the skin causes redness. That was my fix.

Is it any wonder with a record setting heat wave going on all around us.We are laying low and close to water during the worst of it.Went for a ride a couple of days ago nice in the morning, by 2pm it was like being in a furnace.Next stop, clothes off and in the water, bike parked for the day.

Not sure you can prevent it and stay protected- heat rash can happen whenever skin can't breathe, but chafing does make it worse. Once you've got it, Aloe really helps. The most common mistake with heat rash is the use of lotions or oils to relieve dryness. The sweat glands are already clogged and this makes the rash worse. Aloe gel straight from the plant is 96% water and allows the skin to breath while fighting infection and reducing pain. For info on using the plant leaves for heat rash, check out: www.aloeplant.info/beat-prickly-heat-with-aloe/
