most comments like that come from people who wished they owned a Harley.

All three Harleys in my garage leave a little spot of oil on the floor when I park them after a ride. No big deal to me. I kinda like it. It reminds me of the old Sportsters I had back in the 70's. They left oil everywhere. If it bugged me, I'd fix the leaks I guess. As far as excessive maintenance - that's nonsense. ALL bikes require a little maintenance. Change fluids and oil filter. Check air pressure, and ride it like you stole it. I have never had a serious breakdown on any of these bikes. An occasional nail in a tire, is about the worst I've experienced, and I don't think that's strictly a Harley issue.

Change your oil, tire pressure and look at the bike to make sure nothing noticeable is out of the ordinary and get on her and go. Take care of them and they will be good to you

My Harleys have required less upkeep than any of the Hondas I've ever owned. Moco builds a sound product

I had 0 problems with my softail. This road king has had a few bugs but nothing too serious. The tranny/primary seals started leaking at about 7000 mi. and the front motor mount went bad ( common problems). I went with a poyurethane motor mount that's held up fine and the new seals have been good now for about 18,000 mi. I replaced the cam chain tensioners with the hydraulic set up not because I had to, just wanted to. Other than that, Ive just changed fluids and tires. I keep an eye on stuff but I'm not real meticulous about following the maint. schedule any more than I am about following a service schedule for a car. If I took my car too the dealer for all it's recommended services and check ups, I wouldn't have any money for gas. Some guys change oil like they do underware, change fork oil, shock oil, grease the hell out of the neck, change bearings, whatever. Bottom line, I keep my eye on stuff but I don't sweat every little maint. detail.

YES, the Harley leaks oil.

YES, the motor vibrates too much.

NO, the maintenance is not high. The belt drive and self adjusting valves EASILY make Harley the low maintenance leader. I can't even imagine a bike that would need less maintenance.

Interesting statement. I've had a few BMW's and never had any
issues. Normal maintenance was all they required. Seemed to me
to be better than most. jmo
