Default Sub $5000 Harley?

Is there such thing as a "late model" (less than 10 years old) that can be had for under $5000 in great shape? What about in the $3 - 5000 range? Im thinking of maybe a 2nd bike or something to hopefully get the wife to learn to ride on and I want to be able to pay cash. None of the Japanese bikes do anything for me except some fo the sport type bikes but dont know that I see the wife on something like that and my back wouldnt be great all hunched over.

I see Sportsters all the time on Craigslist.com for less than 5k. Other than that, you have to be very fortunate or have a friend that is selling something cheap.

Good luck in your search.

Less than 10 years old is possible, but I can go to any dealer around here and get a Sportster that runs like a top for udner $5K and a lot more than that from private sales - they are mostly over 10 years old. It's a Harley - does 10 years really matter? One local dealer has a 1991 1200 for $2,995 and there are plenty of 883's around in the $4-5,000 range that are under 10 years.

the wife has a nice 99 1200C sportster she's looking to sell for $3900 she's got her eyes on a new deluxe. I'm in the area if you'de like to take a look at it. Got a little ding in the tank, other than that it's in nice shape.

Thats a nice looking little Sporty. Looking for one for the wifey and I may need to show her that pic tonight. Craigslist around here is ridiculously inflated on prices.

Cash is "king".... folks think/believe/imagine their old bike has increased, or at least held it's value. No matter that there are dozens of bikes for sale. If you see something you like, arrange to see it, and meet the owner. If the bike suits you.... make the offer that you want. If it offends the seller... what do you care?

If you want a bike for you wife to learn how to ride..... Send her to the local riding class.
Maybe she'll get the bug... or, maybe she'll decide it's not for her.
If she DOES get the bug.... maybe she won't want, what you want... Let her have some input...unless you're really buying another "toy" for yourself... and just using the "learning bike" as an excuse.... LOLOL
