Did you say the old lady was a dog and in his lap??
I hit a rabbit a couple weeks ago. Like you I felt a bump...bump, but I didn't get any guts on my bike. I saw it go off the side of the road in my mirror but didn't stop to see how far it got

My brother-in-law and I were riding and he hit a really small doe going about 55mph . . .cut her in half . . .we had to ride to the local carwash so I could wash him off with the powerwasher . .looked like the scene in ghost busters where the guy got "slimed". He didn't appreciate it at all when I hit the "wax" setting as I was hosing him down.
Glad to hear your OK and didn't put the bike down.

Don't understand the dog though... unless he does the cleaning up?

I hit one of those squishy speed bumps the second night on my current bike. I will always choose my bike and I to be OK over the suicidal critter. Straight on, bump bump, saw the body the next day so it didn't fare well...

So far I'm 1 Groundhog / 1 Coon / About a dozen birds. I'm just waiting on the skunk that will inevitably be my next victim some morning on the way to work.
Thankfully though I have missed all the deer so far.
