Fried battery!
Hi guys, had to change my exhaust due to a prang....2 studs refused to budge, used loads of WD40 and no luck. Day after decieded to fire her up and have another go bloody thing caught fire...WD is flammable DOH!!!
Anyway it fried the battery and part of the positive battery cable, have ordered both, so they will be here in few days. My question is once i put in the new battery and change the lead, will I do any damage if its fried the recifier or stator? Any advice would be welcome, thanks in advance!!

Are you sure the prang didn't create a short in the wiring somewhere that precipitated the battery fire on starting the bike? The solvents in WD40 evaporate quickly and the remaining lubricant is unlikely to ignite with exhaust heat or even if subjected to a spark or naked flame.

Try some heat to get those studs loose. I doubt it did any damage to the charging system. It is easy to check the stator. Unplug it and use an ohm meter. Check for shorts to ground, there shouldn't be any continuity from any pin to ground.
Then check between pin 1-2, 2-3 and 3-1 each should be about 0.1-0.2 ohms.

ooohhh, okay, now i understand.
in the army, i used to have a generator that wouldn't start unless we gave it a shot of wd-40 through the carb (they wouldn't let us have starting fluid!) but i agree with the others, waiting that long, there should not have been any flammable stuff left behind.
