Road King Classic Vs. Yamaha Road Star Midnight Silverado
A buddy of mine loving my King does the most stupid thing. He buy the Road Star Midnight Silverado. I am telling him that the HD has a better resale, specs and everything else. Now I need to prove it. Anyone have any links or input to use for this dim-witted HD “want to be”?

The Road King MRSP is $16,595 and the Silverado is $12,699
They both use 40mm carbs, the HD a Kelhin and the Yammy a Mikuni. The Hd is belt wheras the Yammy is shaft. The HD sits 30.7 inches high and the yammy 27.9 The Road King has hard bags, except the Custom, and the Silverado has studded soft. As far as resale, I don't have a blue book in front of me, but I know HD is better.
This one is a hard argument if you go with just stats. IMHO the Silverado is just a cheaper imitation. The initial price gets alot of people in the first place, but it's just not the same on a import.

I had a 2001 Road Star. It was a very nice bike. It did not hold its value as well as HD's do, but motorcycles are toys, not investments. Your friend should buy what he likes. One correction from Joe's post, the Road Star is belt driven, like the Road King. The Royal Star is shaft driven.

Well after he sinks a lot of money, the chrome and such is real high on the metrics, looks at resale, he will eventually buy a King and when he has one, if he does he will go darn I should have listened to my heart the first time. Nothing wrong with the metrics, but when you are that close on MSRP the Harley is the better buy period.
