Ain't just a Harley-It's a DRAGON SLAYER!
We made it back! Hundreds of miles and THOUSANDS of curves!
Stayed 2 nights at IronHorse in Stecoa.(very nice)
Quick thoughts:
We came thru Pisgah on 276 - great ride. (mtrcycle accident 1)
Rt 28 from IronHorse is GREAT road to Deals Gap.
The Tail of the Dragon is what it is. All 11 miles open from NC side then closed, so 11 miles back.
Cherahola Skywy was great, especially at 5200 ft where it was nice and cool. (place of mtrcycle accident 2)
No one mentions the Blue Ridge Parkwy - we could have ridden it forever. Absolutely beautiful - and minimal traffic for a Holiday.
We went around the Dragon Rock slide and took Foothills Prkwy to 321 to 441 thru Smokeys. A little busy at 1st and then wow. Don't miss this.
Came 441 thru Smokeys and then finished up at Harrah's Casino in Cherokee!
Then cruised on home. Bike was flawless, met folks from all over. If you ever go try to catch it all - each road has it's own special flair.
Thanks for letting us share-

Great to hear you had an exciting trip. I'm looking forward to my 3rd trip to the Dragon next month with some fellow HDF members.
I haven't seen any accidents but my first trip I did meet the son of a 66yo man who died that day (Sept/Oct '09) and my last trip in April I saw a wrecked Ultra on the back of a flat bed coming off the Cherohala. It was in some seriously bad shape. I truly hope the driver fared better than the bike.

I'll never forget his son. We all stayed at the Ironhorse.
If you ride above your skill level, you're bound to get hurt. It's not a game.
