What does July 4th mean to you

well i'm not overly patriotic, but i have a deep seeded respect for our service men and women and what they do on a daily basis to ensure the freedom and the safety of this country.
i just want to say a big thank you to all the vets we have on this forum and throw an even bigger thank you into the cosmos to the soldiers on the front lines right now for their service so that there may be bbq's and beer-b-q's and pool parties and beach side bonfires today.
thank you one and all.
i'll show my gratitude by drinking as much as i can, eating as many hot dogs as i can, and trying not to drown as i sloth around in a pool for hours on end.
happy fourth of july.

Sorry, but as a vet I can only feel ...disconcerted on the values of the 4th lately. It's like the sacrifices made for our freedoms were merely temporary as the liberals continue to nibble away at our freedoms, clueless as to what real Americans wanted for this country.
I don't need every facet of my life to be dictated to me; I can make my own choices.

Unfortunately, July 4th to most Americans is just another day off of work and the day for picnics and blowing stuff up.
I do want to say thank you to all of the vets that served before me and another thank you goes out to all the guys serving with me over here today.
Oh and on a side note, it's also me and my ol lady's 1 year anniversary so i guess that makes it important too.
God Bless America and thanks again to everyone who made this country what it is today.

It is a celebration of the world's greatest democracy. While we have problems and some things may suck, it sucks less than any other place on earth. Our veterans have allowed us to hand down democracy from generation to generation. It is a reminder that democracy is no further away than one generation from extinction. Apathy is a big threat to our way of life. So is liberalism and this politically correct BS that plagues our society. Happy 4th America!

Today, here in Afghanistan, our team rode Chinese motorcycles around the firebase 5 times, one lap for each fallen brother. As we went by the British compound we honked the horns and reved the motors as loud as we could. Didn't see them come out all day. Tonight- fireworks. Big, big fireworks.
