Miami/ S. Beach area
The wife and I are planning to ride to Key West the last week of july and want to hit miami beach. I'd like to hit Lummus beach. Does anyone have any hotel recommendations? The reviews are all over the map. And it seems parking is also an issue as I dont know how they deal with bikes. Im not to hip on valet parking.

Maybe I can help. The area you are talking about is South Beach. Not biker friendly getting there. A TON of traffic. Unless you ride in rush hour traffic daily in a big city, you will not be used to what you will hit on the south Florida roads and that goes for all interstates too.
South beach is over rated. There are a ton of hotles in the area, I dont have a reference on them. I assume you are going just to say you have been there.
My recommendation is stay in the Ft Lauderdale beach area. It isn't as cowded, much more friendly. The elbow Room is a great bar. Ride down A1A to visit S Beach if you want to say you have been there. An afternoon in the S Beach area and you will be able to see and experience it all. If you are going to see it, I would recommend going in the evening and having dinner on the sidewalk and watch the people go by.
The areas arond S Beach get a little rough. Don't be a tourist and go exploring on a motorcycle at night. Stick to A1A, US 1 and I-95.
When heading to the keys, loop around Miami and head south. You can follow A1A down, but be prepared to add at least a couple of hours to the trip.
And for the trip through the keys. Take your time. It won't help hurrying. All the RVs hold up traffic and it is very difficult to pass. Have a couople of beers along the way, but don't over indulge. A lot of police through out the trip. A stop at the Tiki Bar at Ilsa Mirada is required. What ever you are allowing for time to get to Key West, add 2 hours to the trip and that doesn't include refreshment stops. Relax and enjoy it is BEAUTIFUL all the way down.
If you have specific questions, post them or send me an email.
