The summerfest music festival at milwaukee's lakefront has had a long run, but this year the towns cops have written tickets to patrons leaving the festival for loud pipes at road blocks checking for DUI. Some were unfortunate to have thier bikes impounded and were arressted for DUI. The check points were at traffic funnel points leaveing the motorcycle parking area.

 

Well good for them and you if it was dui, they shouldn't be on the road. Grow up, just saved somebodys life. As for the pipes, that just plain sucks and we all know its here, or coming. Makes you wonder what there going to go after next. Scary isn't it.

 

So in the land of HD they targeted loud pipes? That just bites big time.

 

I really dont see it, the cops from what you say are just doing there job, and you know better than to take your bike if you have loud pipes, you got to be smarter than the cops

did you actually say "some were unfortunate because of dui...gimmie a brake...GOOD!!! maybe their lives were saved or better yet someone elses life...to friggin bad!!!!!

 

Whether the cops' intentions were good or bad, who's going to go to Milwaukee motorcycle events if they're going to be "funneled" into a bike inspection and breath test on the way out?

 

We have roadside inspections here regularly where you get
funneled into one lane. It's common now days, if your legal, no
worries. Sounds simple to me.

 

seems a lot of y'all are missing the point here. it sounds like the 'inspections' were set up only for the motorcycles. that is discrimination, plain and simple.

i agree that drinking and riding is stupid. i also agree that if you have loud pipes, then control that right hand. what i don't agree with is law enforcement targeting motorcycles specifically.

what can you do about it? look into joining your local coalition of clubs. if you don't belong to a club or association, join as an independent (coalition of independent riders or coir)

Drunk driving/riding is a bad idea, but pipes ? I've been drowned out by loud stereos, monster trucks, hot rods, and bad mufflers. Who's kidding who with this loud pipes sh8t ?
