As mentioned before, if I were to hit the starter button without waiting for the light to go out, it will idle a little faster than normal (how fast? I do not have a tach on the bike) for about 2 to 4 mins depending upon how cold it is at the time. But idle returns to normal as if nothing out-of-the-ordinary had happened. This is my third FI bike and all three acted identical in behavior when starting without letting the computer run it's checks first.

I wait. It is going through diagnostics and powering up. Don't know if it matters but I wait. At work we sometimes have to fire up our equipment in a hurry. We were told and it is in print to wait on the diesels to go through their diagnostics. Others wait or don't wait-----I don't care. Not my bike but with my bike---you wait.

So oct1949 alerts the OP that there are other threads on the same subject, one just a couple of days ago & he should look them up and you turn into the HDF posting police patrol. Get a life, this place is really attracting a lot of whiners!

To the OP, wait unless you need to bolt! You are supposed to wait for the fuel line to be pressurized before starting.

Yes and No....when cold I wait. When hot I don't. It's too hard to start when hot if I wait.

I asked around. One opinion I value told me it didn't rally matter. The diagnostics are still being run and adjustments being made with the engine running. Then he asked me it I thought the cops running radar would wait for the lights to go out before beginning pursuit???
