I never owned a cage before, a 08 sporty was my first vehicle then i traded up to a 09 softail custom. rode in everything from nice weather to 1.5 miles away from a fu$%ing tornado, hail, 60 mile n hour wends n all. Never hauled *** so fast away from somewhere lol. anyways, now that im married and all i guess im going to be forced to get a cage before winter hits . Anyone know of a good model older truck? i just want to get a ol truck for 3-4 thousand cash. That way i have money left over to put new goodies on my softail for the winter, and my wife can drive the ol' truck.

Pickup or SUV? For that price personally, I'd go with an S-10 PU or Blazer with the 4.3

 

i had a 1994 chevy 1500 silverado single cab short bed, or any year of that model truck really, great trucks. most have SBC 350, so plenty of parts out there.

 

You can get a late 90's, maybe even a 2000 Dodge Dakota for that kind of money. Big enough to haul something of decent size, including your bike in an emergency, but not as big as a full size so it's easier for the wife to drive. I've got 130K on my 2000 4X4 and have only had minor problems with it over the years. With just the two of you the extended cab would be fine but if you want to carry more than three people you will need a crew cab.
