Default Re routing clutch cable

I just changed out stock risers on 09 fatboy to 4 inch risers. I need to re locate the clutch cable from behind the handlebars to the front of the hanlebars so as not to rub on tank. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thanks for your replys

Loosen the adjusting lock nut under the rubber boot in the middle of the cable. Get the cable as loose as you can, then you can remove the clip from the pin in the clutch cable housing on the handlebars. Take out the pin, that will let you pull the cable from the perch, the reroute it. You might want to have an extra clip handy as sometimes they bend when you try to get them off or they go flying and can be hard to find

yeah take the clutch cable from behind the bars and move it up front....

1.in all seriousness, loosen the clutch cable, the adjustment is covered by a rubbber boot located next to the front left downtube
2. there is an eclip holding in the pin that retains the clutch cable remove this
3. at this point you can remove the clutch cable from its mount take out the white plastic plug/pin holding it onto the lever and reroute
4. reverse and put back together.

Anyone know why the clutch cable is in back of the bars....it looks like crap there. Any issues with moving it forward?

No problem to move it, that's where it should be in the first place.

You're going to need a pair of small expanding snap ring pliers. The holes in the snap ring are tiny, had to file my tips down to get them in the holes.

Guess you could also accomplish the same thing by taking your bars off.

Tks for the reply. I checked the HD manual and it says for FLSTC the clutch cable should be in back of the bars. Though it looks bad, it appears with the wheel turned all the way left it would more easily hit front end. I believe putting it in rear of bars it ensures the cable is guided enough to the rear of the front end. All speculation except what the manual says.

Anyone have their 2000 to present flstc clutch cable in front of bars?
