The Today Show.
My wife was watching the Today Show this morning and they were doing a story on motorcycle accidents. I don't know much about the story but this is the letter she wrote to the show after she saw it.
Good morning - today I was watching your show and saw the story about
motorcycle dangers. I was really disappointed that the story placed the
blame of motorcycle accidents on the riders themselves due to a lack of
training and helmet use. As a news show, I think it would have been more
appropriate for the story to look at the statistical data behind the cause
of motorcycle accidents, so that a more objective story is broadcast.
My husband and his friends are avid, trained, helmeted riders who can tell
numerous stories of almost being hit by drivers who are not paying
attention, talking on their cell phones, not taking precautions when a
motorcycle is present, or running stop signs. Not many stories are told of
motorcycles hitting vehicles, but there are countless accidents involving
vehicles hitting motorcycles.
Next time, maybe you should do a story on how drivers should be more aware
and more cautious of motorcycle riders, especially since the number of
motorcycles on the road is increasing on a daily basis.
Thank you-

RE: The Today Show.
I am amazed that people actually believe that ANY news show, paper, magazine, etc. actually even tries to get the facts. As far as I can see all they care about is getting the "scoop" first and are not about to let the "facts" get in the way of a story.

I saw that segment, What a joke. They got an unamed Harley dealer rep and a Yamaha dealer rep to agree with helmet use. What I thought was interesting was that most of the motorcycle accident photo shots they showed were sport bikes.
Look forward to seeing thier reply to you.
