Default Wheel Bearing Blues-Help!

I posted on the Dyna forum about my second rear wheel bearing in 30,000 miles. Some recommended going with an aftermarket bearing, so has anyone done this and was there a shim/spacing issue? The service guy told me it would be difficult to find a replacement and space and shim it correctly, but I'm calling B.S. on that. A high quality replacement should be available with the same specs and dimensions, or am I dreaming? Help!

Replacement bearings in exactly the same size are commonly available.

If you have a local bearing shop take the old bearing to them and they will match it. I use to do it with my dirt bikes. They are usually a fraction of the cost as opposed to the dealer.

I ordered replacement bearings on Ebay for my Fatboy and replaced the defective rear one. I had no spacer issue and absolutely no problems!

Looked on NSK website, but no crossover list or application list for motorcycles. Any other suggestions or where I might get a part number? Any help very greatly appreciated! Fred

Try drag specialty's. Thats where I got mine 11.00 bones. If they used a punch on the inner race to install it that would cause premature failer.

I emailed Timken with all of the dimensions and they don't have anything close, nor do they have plans to come up with a product.

***EDIT***
I did manage to find some on Ebay made by custom chrome, they have a part number of 20979, replacement for OEM #9247

Thanks! It's not surprising that Timkin has no plans to produce this as Harley apparently dropped them as a supplier in favor of....who? Anyone know the brand of these wonderful bearings?
