Default Vibration problem

I have an 01 Duece and just recently noticed a vibration in the motor at around 60 -65 mph anything above or below those speeds is not noticible , any suggestion on where to look for the problem?

Everywhere with what little you told us. Could be anything from tires--to compensator---to motor mounts---to harmonics and wear---to you just noticing it. I would listen to my engine at idle with a mechanics stethoscope. Check all fasteners. Review maintenance. Look at tires and wear along with balance. How do you know that the vibration is motor originated?

The motor ha 15000 miles on it and the tires are brand new , my thought s were along the same line of thought as you as far as being the compensator ,or the primary chain . As far as engine fasteners i checked all those and they checked out fine . What is the best way to check the compensator for wear? Thanks for the help and insight ...

With what you are saying I would expect it to do with balance.More than likely tires,a weight has fallen off .

How bad is the vibration? I would still suspect tires--balance on tires---something in the drive line. 15,000 miles is not much. I would inspect tires and work my way up the bike. If it persist or gets worse then I would take it to the dealer but there is no guarantee that they would find it since it is limited to that speed.

Since the tires are new, I'd have to go with a tire out of balance originally or that a weight has fallen off. When I was racing they made us duct tape the stick-on weights because the corner workers got tired of having to dodge the "shrapnel" of weights coming off the wheels.

Thanks for all the info I will take a look at the weights on the tires but it doesnt feel like a tire out of balance , more of a harmonics type vibration , the kind that makes your butt and hands tingle , LOl....

My vote is on the front tire.

Had a very similar problem with my 2000 FXST: Very noticeable vibration between 65 and 70.

No problem under 65; no problem over 70.

It started about 1,000 miles after I had a new front Metzler installed. Took it back to the dealer and he could not resolve the problem. Checked tire balance and bearings.

Continued to ride the bike. 10K later had the front tire replaced (another Metzler), and the problem vanished.

The only time I get the feeling of a vibration is when my pant legs flap in the wind,
thought I had something wrong too, but found that a rubber band around the legs stopped it.
