Default Dealer strips oil drain plug

Took my bike in for oil change. Dealer calls me and says I need new oil pan because drain plug is stripped. This dealership did last oil change also. If they stripped it then would have leaked? How could they have stripped the threads. He says it happens because oil pan is thin metal. He wants me to pay for new oil pan and labor. I think they probably cross threaded the plug when putting it back in. I am pissed. What do you all think? I now know why you all change your own fluids.

refuse to pay it.

speak to the service manager and explain to him that his people are the only ones that have been in the oil pan...and it's their fault

They did the work then it is on them plan and simple. You should tell them that as well. They screwed up they pay for the repair.

They probably didn't cross thread it. They probably over tightened it. I agree they should pay for it. If I do that in my shop I have to eat the repair not the customer.

Stop blubbering on the internet and talk to the service manager or dealer principal. If the facts are on your side you should be ok.

It is your fault! Did you explain to them what torque wrench is and how to use it before giving them your bike? No? that was your mistake!
