To crank or not to crank. That is the Question
#11
I inquired about having the engine professionally built on my '06 Road King and they said the same thing. You have to replace the crank 'cause it's junk. Added $1500 to the cost of the rebuild for a total of 6 grand. I decided it isn't worth it, I'd rather use the money to buy a new bike.

Thanks for the reply. Sounds well worth doing for a high performance build.

YMMV but...'05 RK with .596 cams (Mackie), 10.5 : 1 dished/domed pistons (Mackie), gear drive and STOCK crank. Dyno'd at 102hp and 108tq with 32K on the build. So far so good. It depends on how hi the hi-performance you want to go.
If I were building more it would be a welded crank or steel aftermarket for sure.
