79,000 miles too much?

i know 79K is doable and doesn't mean the bike is ready to be junked... if i believed that i would never contemplate buying it. i think we can all agree that it's a lot of miles and there is a certain risk involved to buying a harley with 79K miles on it.

You could spend $6500 on a Sportster, but that ain't a RK. I'd rather buy a bike with some road time then one that sat in a garage for 11 years. You know it's had a few sets of tires and a couple batteries. The guy claims the top end was done so take it for a good long ride and if it don't start banging, smoking, or blow up on ya, buy it. Bikes that sit develope carb issues, leaks, and things that just don't seem to work right.,,

i'm looking at a 99 road king for $6500. it was kept in very good condition, very clean, no leaks that i can see. HD rebuilt the top end about 8000 miles ago.
before i take the plunge on a bike with so many miles anyone have any experience with road kings pushing 100K in a few years?
is 79K too many miles too risky?

I would not buy a bike that had 79k on it. Save your money and look for something with a lot less miles on it for a couple thousand more. It might be cheaper in the long run.
I'm not saying that it's going to self destruct just because the mileage is getting up there. My idea is to buy them with low mileage then rack up the miles myself. I also plan on keeping mine for many years.
