Default Hit a deer

I decided to ride my bike to my family reunion over the weekend and hit a deer. I was cruising down the highway about 70 and I see mama deer run across the highway in front of me and managed to get it slowed down enough to miss her. Out comes the baby (I'm guessing it was a couple of weeks old) following it's mom about 50-75 feet behind her, but I couldn't slow down or maneuver around it fast enough to miss it. The front tire rolled over it and I wobbled a time or two, but managed to keep the bike upright. This happened Friday afternoon and that image has been running through my mind all weekend. There was no damage done to myself or the bike, but my heart is broken over running over that baby deer, even though there was nothing I could have done to avoid hitting it.

Glad to hear you did not go down or get hurt.

I hate to hit any animal but it happens. You are one of the few not getting repairs bills or medical bills. Count your blessings.

Count your blessings! A friend of mine was cruising through Nebraska last week and hit a dear at 50 mph. He was thrown 30' and is now in intensive care. He's lucky to be alive and we're all praying he pulls through. Glad you're able to log on and tell us about it.

You did everything you could. It is rather miraculous that both you and the bike came away without a scratch. Glad you are okay. Texas has lots of deer and everytime we visit friends in San Angelo we see lots of them on the side of the road.

As long as there is roadways, animals will get killed. Sad for the young one, but sounds like a good recovery. Glad you didn't get hurt.

The deer walked out in front of You, have no pity on it. Damn lucky to be alive Yourself. Deer are thick as ticks while riding the bike, but sit in a damn tree with a gun and they are nowhere to be found. Glad to here Your OK. ...WVleo
