I know there are a few Streetable V-rods that pull that with no problem. also know on my other forum they have some track bikes and production Destroyers ( non-streetable factory produced) running in the 8s as well

Your Sportster is running quarter mile ET's in the 9 second range with the setup shown in your signature?

"1996 HD 1250 XLH "Custom" Stage 2 Heads, SE.497 Cams, SE Prog. Race Ignition."

If so that is pretty amazing.

My 2005 Sportster is running modified heads, higher lift/flowing SE 511 cams, modified ignition, modified intake and exhaust, etc., and although I've never taken it to an 'official dragstrip' I know it's not running anywhere near the 9 second ET range.

If I had to guess I'd say it would probably be running in the low to mid 12 second ET range.

I do know that my modified 2003 WideGlide (which is about 60 pounds heavier) will pull away from it during any kind of acceleration contest...

My bike will run WAY longer than 10 seconds. Sometimes it stays running for a whole hour before it breaks down. Wait... I think I misunderstood the original question.

the way my bike is set up in my sig is not the way I run it at the track. Well sometimes when I'm short **** or don't have a the time for prep.

There is a list of other mods that I don't make public, I run coated pistons, etc:. I also use a different Ignition, Carb and intake at the track cause I'll run mixed/ Alky/ and or just 110 Sunoco and sometimes I just put her on the bottle.
Now being the Harley guru that you are, (no insult) You'd remember that there are still some race 883's they flat *** fly. (but they are not street legal)

Alky is great but the carb maintinance is not worth it. Clean, clean, clean.

Now other toy an 800 Open Mod. is 268hp inna 217lb frame. Averages low 4's and 136mph on ice in the 1/8 mile. But that only runs a special mix from Klotz.

I just found this article, and I would have to assume that since mine is still stock this fits it to a T

Taken from http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/ro...yna/index.html
Although it's not quite as crisp right off idle, the Harley manages 5 more lb.-ft. of torque at 3000 rpm than the 109-inch liquid-cooled, OHC six-valve V-twin in Honda's biggest VTX, and matches the Honda's 89 peak horsepower. Despite being weighed down by an extra 49 pounds of relatively modern engine and chassis technology, the quicker-revving VTX is also a bit quicker at the strip, putting a 12.20-sec. @ 105.45-mph 440-yard dash against the Dyna's 12.31-sec/107.08-mph best. Despite its deficit in terminal speed at the strip, Honda owns the short sprints as well, making the 0-60-mph trip in 3.9 seconds versus 4.2 seconds for Milwaukee's finest. And, as accountants and other overwrought **** retentives have been standing by to point out since the beginning of this paragraph, it hardly helps that the Dyna costs almost twice as much.

That's exactly what I was asking-a bike you don't have to trailer to the track that's a full blown drag bike with the wheelie bars, etc.A street legal sub 10 second bike.Sorry if there was some confusion.

Tried once to build a machine like were talking about with close to stock displacement (93" Shovel) the faster if got the less enjoyment arond town. Now running big inch very close to those numbers and loving every minute if it.Only sneek up into the 3 figure speeds when the need arises,or some throttle jockey needs an education.
