That drives every body nuts because you hear some thing in your bike or there bike that just doesn’t sound right. Having been in the heavy equipment service BIZ for over 30 years yes funny noises can be a pre cursor to problems. But you can chase them forever and never find them. When they become a distinct grinding banging or crunching noise take action. Or wait till it falls of then it’s easy to find. I am being a little facetious when I say that but sometimes!

Having run farm machinery all my life, I know exactly what you're talking about! However, the older I get, the less the strange noises bother me. .....................Unless they are talking to me.

I don't think I drive everybody else nuts, but when I hear something on my bike I can't figure out it drives me nuts.

Agree with Will.........as the years go by you give less and less of a rats *** about unusual sounds.......either that or you just can't remember what it oughta sound like anyway..

These bikes are inherently noisey with the external pushrods/1930's technology of their design. Depending on how loud your exhaust is or whether you have a windshield or not also effects how much noise you actually hear.

If I hear an odd noise, I just "Screw" the earplugs in a little further....
It`s when I see parts fallin' off that I pay attention.

Depends on the noise, if it sounds like a lose nut or bolt somewhere i have to fix it, if its inside the motor i can block it out, sometimes..goes in hand with being perfectionist *sigh* *edit* But I don't drive other people nuts, unless its my wife or father in law

30 years ago on my first Harley the noises drove me crazy; had a Honda 750 prior with no noises. Now I just worry when I do not hear any engine noise. Amazing, seems the older we get the smarter!
