That would definitely make your stomach turn over a few times

Well now that I have owned an HD for a few years and been around them alot noises tend to not bother me on them unless it's crazy bad. My bike almost never sounds the same two days in a row.

I used to work on cat diesel gensets, if you stand around one long enough and listen you will hear noises you have never heard before. had break in engineers that would drive me nuts for the first week after that I would tell them to ignore if oil and water temp/pressure were okay. My harley reminds me of that. maybe turn the radio up or get louder pipes. just say'n

I won't lie, when I bought the scoot after owning rockets for so long all the noises kinda freaked me out. All the pinging, ticking, whirring, etc. was definitely something I wasn't used to. Fortunately, I bought my bike brand spanking new and I had ridden my Uncle's Fat Boy before so I kinda figured that the noises where normal before I started haranguing people. Now they definitely don't bother me as long as my oil tank is full and the engine stays cool.

Well after 35 years of working in high pressure steam plants I can't hear **** anyway. I definitely notice different sounds but unless it's a deep knock or grinding I don't worry too much. Machinery makes noise, moving down the road makes noise and different road surfaces make noise, it's all part of the deal.

Yep, had a ticking noise that only occurred from 21/2300 RPM's. Drove me nuts... Did all the troubleshooting, top end, cam assembly, still there. Ran good but still ticked. Finally bought a new set of speakers, took the stock mufflers off and replaced with Rush 1.75's.....ticking all gone....at least I don't hear it anymore! Problem solved.

I worried when I heard the strange noise coming from my primary. Turned out my inner bearing & race were shot and needed to be replaced.

If you ride long enough, you come to know the normal behaviour and sounds of your ride. when something strange happens, you know it.
