Spent lots of time in Austin, excellent place, beautiful countryside, rolling hills and plenty of scenic riding.

I think it's the only place in Texas where if you stand up really tall, on you tippie toes, and squint and look way out there, you won't see the back of your own head.

It's funny you mention this, I live in St. Louis and I'm thinking about moving to Austin next year. My wife and I are going to try to come down next month for a long weekend to check it out.

Nice thing about Texas is the variety in scenery. Desert and plains out west and northwest. Hill Country in Central Texas. Lots of coastline on the Gulf. Deep thicket forests and swamps in southeast Texas and the piney woods up here in the northeast corner. Welcome to Texas.

It takes a while to get used to the heat and humidity but once you do you will be just fine.

I'm with the Austin over KS. Just came back from there a month or two ago. Love it.

Just to the south and west is arguably the best riding in the state. From Kerrville down to Medina, over to Vanderpool, Leaky and Camp Wood....ride 335, 336, 337....absolutely stunning scenery. My favorite riding in the whole state.

All of this is an hour or so away, depending on what part of Austin you live in.

Another great road is the Park Road 1C between Bastrop State Park and Buescher State Park. <-- Do Not Miss This Road!
