Well it happened, I haven't owned my first Harley for a full week, and I just encountered my first paint "ding" on my front fender. A 2004 FLHRCI with an otherwise flawless paint job now marred by a flying rock. I never realized how much this would affect me! I am beside myself and am looking for comfort, relief and suggestions on how to get it fixed - Please Help!!

 

You can buy touch up paint from the dealer, or a local paint shop can try to color match. But it will happen again. Unless you want a Garage Queen, get used to it.

 

I wouldn't let it get to me much it will happen again. The dealer does have 2 bottle touch up kits.

 

Is it ok to use the "brush" touch up kits, or is it better to spary? Using the brush seems more practical.

 

Mine went all the way to bright shiny metal.. I put some clear sealer over the spot and then one of those fake bullet hole decales over the chip.. have to replace the decale every couple of months but until I get tired of chging it, I will keep on keeping on .. whatever that means..

 

Don't worry too much about it or you'll be doing alot of worrying becuase it won't be your last. I had a defect on the front fender of my '10 RGC. Dealer ordered me new one. I didn't make it home (130 miles) from getting it put on before I had a chip in it and mine is Black Denim (not an easy fix).

Roadside (left) saddlebags also take a beating.

 

I've wondered about this before. Is there a way to fill that hole in, then touch it up so the new paint is at least flush with the existing paint?

It's allways good to get that FIRST ding or chip over with.

 

Before you do anything, take a one week cooling off period. Usually after that, you will have forgotten all about it, or are already worrying about the new one you just got.
