TX riders...
Anyone seen/have/read these books:
Motorcycle Journeys through Texas - Neal Davis
The Bikers Guide to Texas: 25 Great Motorcyle Rides in the Lone Star State - Dorothy Waldman
Curious if they have good info. I saw the first at the parts counter this weekend at American Eagle HD in Denton County for $20 but can buy both from Amazon.com for $25 and change with free shipping. Wondering if they are worth the dough. Thumbing through, there seemed to be a lot of things I wouldn't just find but by accident.

RE: TX riders...
A guy was selling them at the ROT Rally. They reminded me of this book my wife made gave me about Texas ghost towns. Many a cool weekend in that book. I was gonna buy them but I lost a hundred dollar bill that day. I think thats when my luck started going south.

one of the best i've found is the Ride Texas handbook You can get it online from Ridetexas.com for about $20 I used it in the hill country out by Fredricksburg and found it to be awesome. We rode down some paved ranch roads that made you feel like you were in Irlend, 49 miles ,54 cattle guards no cages in site.Don't know if you've been ,but the hill country is a must. I go at least twice a year.

I gotta imagine that $25 is well worth it. I always think about getting one of them but never do. I usually just go to a place that I know is kinda pretty and start driving down roads I've never been on before. Seen a lot of beautiful countryside that way.

I too, have one of the Ride TX route books... the white book w/red sprial bindings. It's great!
I may have to take a look at the other mentioned in the original post next time we stop by AE HD. Never can have too many options for rides!

Yes, the Motorcycle Journeys through Texas is very good. It complements the Ride Texas version.

Thanks - good enough endorsement for me. Plus I will look at the Ride TX book. I am just south of FW and have ridden hill country, the Houston/coastal area, Possum Kingdom/Palo Pinto area, and metroplex to OK. Looking to ride East TX and Big Bend and this book looked like it had some good info. I'll probably order them and then give a review.

Anyone from the North TX area wanna get together and do the "Northwest Dallas Ride" from the Ride TX route book?
So far, ByranTTM, KDeitz, and I are gonna do it next Satruday - 9/2.
We are going to see about getting a nice early start from I35 & FM455 and go west form there. We're planning to meet at the gas station on the SE corner of that intersection @ 7:00AM to beat some of the heat. After a nice ride, we should be back to Tioga for their famos BBQ & Pie around lunch time. If anyone is up to a few more miles, I know some really good roads up in that area. If not we can all go our own way(s) after lunch.
If you're interested, either post-up here, or shoot me a PM.

Woops! It's 35 & 455!
