Default Water in Fuel?

I'm wondering if I got some bad fuel this past weekend? I put two gallons of 93 in from a BP in Chicago (North/Clark) and the bike started running like crap the next day. As I was coasting to a stop at a red light with the clutch pulled in, the engine would start to die. The first time, I revved it a few times and she fired back up to life, but at the next light the engine died on me before I stopped. I restarted and made it back home, but almost each time I was slowing for a stop sign or light, it would start to sputter out. Background on the bike -- '08 Fatboy that I picked up in March of '09 with 617 miles. Now has 9300 miles and have had zero problems with her. Stage 1 with a Power Commander. If it is bad fuel, should I drain the tank or just get on the highway and burn through the tank (seemed to run fine at higher RPM's)?

Thanks for any help!

Josh

That sounds like bad gas to me. Cant hurt to drain it and refill with new gas and see if thats the problem. Might want to go ahead and throw a new set of plugs in there too just to be on the safe side. I have had plugs go bad on me and the bike acted like it had bad gas also.

Also, you might want to put some gumout or other Carb/fuel injector cleaner in the tank. I had water get into the gas and this helped.

I would siphon off as much as possible. Then refill with fresh fuel and see what happens. Then get some watersorb (alcohol dry gas) and add 1 ounce to a tankful of gas to absorb/burn any water on the bottom of the tank. OR fill up with some E-10 ethanol fuel and it will absorb it. I only buy gas from high volume gas stations that sell so much fuel they are constantly re-filling their tanks. That way you have less chance of a bad tankful.

+1 on what he said, Also I run a product called sea foam every third tank of fuel, It definately helps to keep things running great, I swear by this stuff.. I had the same issue in the past and it cured it...

Disconnect the fuel line and let out as much as possible. Add fresh gas and a little dry gas to be sure.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. The station that I went to is one of the most expensive in the country, so I doubt too many folks are purchasing 93 octane there. I'll have to see if I can find my old home-brewing equipment and use the auto-siphon and some hose to drain the tank.
