I believe the US unemployment figures are about 20-25% of all working age americans. That's the real unemployment figures, not what the governments lists. That counts people who are looking for a job, not looking for a job, wouldn't work if they had one, given up looking for a job. The government only counts people who are drawing unemployment. This is a real bad time to sell anything, much less a luxury item like a motorcycle. Good time to buy one if you have the money, not so great for the seller.

Yes it is hard to market and sell your ride...

KBB says book value 9750

NADA saysbook value; low retail is 7860 high is 9650

Xtras would help it sell, but I don't know if you could/should./get ask any more.

I'm thinking that if you combined the high from KBB and the low from NADA and then divided by two you that would put you at $8800...drop 10 %, to make it appetizing
and you're lookin' at $8 K. That sounds reasonably fair...I think..

Are you asking more for it than that, or a lot less than that?

What mediums have you used to try to sell it?
You could try ebay. I think that is around $125 by the time it's all said and done.
Most folks don't wanna read the newspaper anymore, too lazy...
You could take it to someone and have them try and sell it for you.
Put a sign on it in front of your house...

Good luck...

I don't know how much money, if any, my local dealer is making on the deals, but he is selling new and used Harleys, and metric trade-in bikes like there was a shortage of them! They are "flying" out of the door.

This is part of the problem. People are paying too much at the dealerships and a year or two later they try to go to a bigger bike and they still owe a ton. Dealership buys low and sells big.

I had been looking for a second bike (ZX 636 Kawy) for the past several months. Just something to play around on and enjoy a different bike, rather than ride the SG everywhere. I was looking for an 05 to 07 because I wanted to stay in that 4 to 4,500 range, and Blue book "retail" is about $4,500 trade in is roughly 32 or 33 hundred. I went and looked at numerouse bikes which were described as "MINT', PERFECT , SPOTLESS...yeah right! I would get there only to find it had been dropped or needed tires,or in some cases parked outside, but the sellers wouldnt budge on the price.
Two weeks ago I found an 06 with 11k miles (Black) with Scorpion exhaust with brand new tires (still had the **** on'em). The guy was asking $4,500 and I told him I would go about 700.00 over trade which was 4 grand flat, and he said I'll take it.
The crotch rocket guys that I know said I made a really square deal at a very fair price.
I fhte bike is really clean with relatively low mileage, I think in this market the best your gonna do is maybe 400 to 900 over trade in, and thats where I think you need to price it. If I'm correct the bike is 6 years old. Many folks dont have 13k cash to hand you, A bank may not finance do to the age of the bike, or the interest rate will be a bit higher. By the time the buyer is done paying for it, he paid 20 grand. If I were in that situation, I would most likely try to buy a new bike at a much lower interest rate. Just my .02, but I wish you luck.

Ive got it on craigs list . plus it sits out front on a busy street.Im asking 10,500 for it. I came up with that price after doing much research online, checking out local shops here in northern indiana & any papers. Most of you guys are right, ive got it to high. Maybe put it out tomorrow for 9500 & see if anyone bites.

If Michigan is still part of America, then 25% is close.

OP, $10 500 for a 6 year old Dyna with fairly low miles would be way to high in Michigan. I'm sorry to say even at $9 500 that's still a bit high...Good luck.
