Default Plastic bag stuck to exhaust pipe

There I was, riding down the main drag in our little town, when I see this plastic bag blowing around in the street. I try to miss it, but the wind blows it right back at me. I look in my rear view mirror for it, but it is no where in sight. I pull in to a service station, and sure enough, it's stuck to my exhaust pipe. I pulled off what I could, but still have a strip about an inch wide, and 12" long. Anybody know of a good way to remove the remains? Thanks

Oven Cleaner on a damp rag (DO NOT get it on paint) Spray on Rag (While away from the bike) wipe pipe while it is still hot.

Good Luck!

A flexible razor blade will work.Like the kind in box knifes.
Used one on mine and scraped the burnt goo off easily and no scratches.

It'll wear off eventually. Chrome pipes? I had chrome pipes on another scooter that got a bag stuck to em.. I just kept riding like normal, washing the bike when it got dirty.. stuff fell off or burned off on it's own. There is probably some good stuff to use, but I never bothered with it. I've done the same thing with rubber from the bottom of a shoe (not mine).. left it alone kept cleaning the bike like I normally would. It all came off eventually.

If you have stock pipes, consider this a blessing. It is a great excuse to get some good exhaust. If you already have nice pipes, use the oven cleaner method described in the first reply.

Thanks for the replys guys; When the pipes cooled, most of the plastic peeled off. The little bit of residue that was left, I scraped with a knife blade held almost flat. That got the rest of it off without scratching the pipe. Chrome drag pipes by the way.

Use Aluminum foil rolled into a ball to scrape the oven cleaner on the mark that is still there. Foil is softer than the chrome and it won't scratch it. Works every time.

Damn litterbugs, they are denying you the right to have a clean/visually sexxy bike.

Had the exact same problem the other day. Came off real easy. Just ride until the plastic heats up, becomes, soft and bubbly and wipe off with soft paper towel or terry cloth rag. This method does not require any cleaners that will damage paint with over spray. You just have to be very careful not to touch the hot pipes and you can't wait for them to cool because the plastic will just start to harden again.
