I do not think anyone is out to get you.

I was looking things over on my bike and wouldn't you know it, a screw in my rear tire.

I got real lucky because instead of going into the tire where the air is, it ran horizontal across the tread.

The head was wore off, and maybe a 1/4" was showing. By the time I worked it out, it was well over an 1" long. Been checking the pressure for over a week, no changes, so all is good.

I had gone by a lot where my friend is thinking of building a house, that is the only place I could think of where I may have picked it up.

On a side note; after Katrina I had to get my truck tires fixed 7 times because of screws in them.

I work at a car dealer. You should see all the license screws laying in the parking lot.

I once discovered a 2" long deck screw (like a drywall screw, but stainless) imbedded completely in my nearly worn out rear tire. I actually had to cut the tire to be able to unscrew it-only a bit of the head was visible. Miraculously, the screw entered at such a low angle (almost tangent to the circumference), that the screw didn't penetrate the tube.

Ironically, I discovered the screw the day before I was going to get new tires on the bike.

Stuff happens.

I can take my rolling magnet we use to clean up our construction sites and roll a parking lot: you'd crap to see all the stuff it gets that you've been driving over. We just don't notice it normally.

On the last construction job I was on, the illegals would throw handfulls of screws in the parking lot on their last day on the job. I never got one, but my boss got 7! I have picked up plenty by hand there though, they were everywhere.

Hadn't heard of that, but I'll be watchful. I wonder what they thought they were accomplishing? We hate 'em enough as is. MY latino crew would kick their butts for that!
