Just wondering if someone has a idea on how to lock detachable backrest and luggage rack. I paid alot of money and do not want someone to just walk off with them. Any ideas would help!

 

Unlike the bags which are expensive to buy and which might contain valuables, theives are pretty unlikely to pinch your rack (only a matter of time before someone posts exactly this scenario of course)

 

Doesn't MOCO sell locks for the detach kits?

 

If it's a MOCO rack they sell a lock kit that replaces one side of the rear latching mechanism

 

My detachable rack is a PITA to remove for some reason. A thief whould give up and decide to steal something easier, I think.

There was a thread some time ago where someone went to Kmart bought a bicycle lock and used it to lock his tourpak. It looked feasible and simple. I bought the MoCo lock and for some reason it did not work on My setup. I never could find the adjustable lock at Kmart, gave up. Maybe this thread will get me started again

 

I often wonder why they don't call detachables "EZ-steal".
