I have 2 MB's. They are great but the only metal on them is the cover. The horn underneath is plastic/pvc or similar.

Howards here also. Nice and loud and great for my daily commute.

However, they have you re-use the Harley cast metal bracket that holds on the cowbell cover. Mine broke, but I made an easy replacement bracket out of some bar steel and painted it wrinkle black. Won't break now. Horn is great otherwise!

In my opinion, simply put, horns for bikes suck. Walk up to any bad *** biker and ask him to honk his horn. He wont do it. If you push for a reason, he'll probably say it sounds like the road runner---Beep, Beep! or it sounds "gay".
Air horns currently are no better. Stebel Nautilus, Wolo Bad Boy, Harley's custom Air horn(a Nautilus under the cover) even Howards horns they're just French gay-- too high of a tone (350Hz and higher). I didn't like the tone of any of the horns currently available . I wanted a "truck" sound (below 300Hz). For now the Wolo Road Warrior (275Hz) is my solution. My next project for the horn is to bend the trumpet to replicate the old Duo glide style of through the jugs and out the front. I used a Sure ball mike replacement spherical screen for the bug issue. I have a snap on weather shield from Kenworth in my bag if it looks like rain.

I have the mini beast too and it is extremely loud. I had HD install it and it could be heard all the way from service through parts to the first floor. Everyone was very impressed. Check it out on the official website. Has a 3 year guarantee if you purchase directly from them.

Arrow chrome Wolo BadBoy from Harbor Freight

After 3 yrs it's still loud as hell and working. Considering how inexpensive it was, a 'no brainer'.

I did upgrade its look at bit after Santa visited this year. That 'Dark Custom' medallion is just Harley's gascap cover siliconed in place. Looks better I think.

Tech calls later in the day to tell me to quit washing my bike so much. Said the relay was all gunked up with green corrosion. I said WTF? I am gonna wash the bike. He said wont be under warranty forever! I suspect the first horn that was replaced was still good and the Tech just replaced it rather than spend the time to find out why it quit. Second time in the shop they decided to find out WHY rather than give me another new horn. When, not if, this second one goes I am done with this horn.
would dialectric grease and heat shrink on the connectors solve your problem?
