Default Fixing Scratches on Hard Leather Bags

Hey Y'all

I searched the archives and couldn't find this discussion. Has anyone found a way to buff out the scratches that develops in the hard leather bags on a RK Classic? Or any other hard leather bag?

Get a good quality leather dye(not the cheap crap they sell at walmart). Use it with an artist paint brush to touch up the color if it is scratched through to the bare leather. Then use a carnauba based leather cream to bring the luster back. Make sure the dye is completely dry before using the cream. Do a search for a Tandy Leather store to see if they have one near you, or find a shoe repair place to find the dye.

Try Kiwi shoe polish in black.

Apply and buff it like you would a pair of shoes.

May not get deep scratches out, but it's cheap and works well for surface scratches.

An old neighborhood Cobbler gave me this secret a long time ago. It does the trick.

Default An old thread on leather repair

I also have a Road King Classic. My problem is I got a scratch across the top of the hard leather bag that looks like a good even weld, not a line. If I do anything I have to resurface the leather before I do any color blending. Anyone out there have any luck doing anything similar or should I just live with it on the chance it will be worse after I get done!

Plain white toothpaste (not gel). I used this on my FLHRS leather bags, worked well on minor scuffs, not so much on deeper ones.
