I always ride with a bell and I'm still alive which proves they work.

I dunno......that looks suspiciously similar to an axle bolt from a Yamaha ATV.

Personally I think your damn lucky the cager in front you didn't kick up and into your chest. Glad you're ok.

Just on side note proving the city liable is a tuff row to hoe.

If the tire still has lots of miles left on it why not patch from the inside, install a tube and run it?

Does that stuff at the crossing belong to the city or the railroad? If it is the railroad, call them and get the name and number to the railroad claim agent. If you could show that this is because of lack of their maintenance likely they will pay for it. I would try this before paying a lawyer. (At first he won't be real willing but play hard ball.) Worth a try.

Those personal injury lawyers will take on just about anything and don't get paid "unless we get money for you". So call them up, and give her a go. The lawyer will tell you to say that you're scared to ride because of what COULD have happened, but play it up. Pain and suffering is measured in $$ and... oh, what you must be going through.

Good luck!

You'd be lucky to get anyone to help you on that big ole bolt installation. I agree with Country bumkin. extract the bolt, plug it, patch it and tube it. It will serve you will. However, you probably won't get a Harley dealer or most any bike repair shop to do the plug/patch thing. Too much liability. Review the above discussion and you will see why they won't do it. Glad you made it home.

Like others said, glad it wasn't worse. However, superfluous litigation is not the answer.
