Do you ride for the speed??

It is usually 5 over for me. With that in mind, I generally look for 45-55 mile an hour zones with a bunch or 15- 25mph posted turns. That way when I am taking them 5 to 10 over it isnt such a big deal.
Going triple digits on highway does nothing for me. I would say around here, going above 10mph over the speed limit is just asking for it.
Really, it sounds like you have it figured out. Ride alone for a while or find new guys to ride with. Personally, I love riding alone. Nothing else to worry about other than what is in front of you.

We haul-***...and guess what.............never had a tailgater problem yet.
Can't stand going slow - hate it, that is why we ride....for the speed and acceleration - 100 MPH you can relax, focus, get places and life is good.
Puttering along at 55 MPG SUCKS.

I ride over the limit too.. just not 25mph over the limit. If a backroad is posted at 30-35 I have no problem doing 45. Samething on the highway. 65 in a 55 and 75 in a 65 is comfortable for me. Its just 90+ that feels dangerous. The guys I rode with on Saturday were riding 96mph in a 65. Thats entirely too fast for me.
In the backroads they were 25+ over the limit most of the time.
Then again.. they ride for the speed. They admit it and thats totally ok with me.
I just can't hang with them at those speeds.
It was about acceleration with me too with most of my other bikes but since I got the Ultra I don't crave it as much. Its got alot to do with the 1340 motor. Although its punched out 10 over with S&S everything, roller lifters, andrews cam, and a barnett/rivera clutch its still not exactly a rocket. My last Harley was a 1988 Sportster that had a Johnson Engine Techology motor in it that was dyno'd in Daytona at 87hp at the rear wheels. That bike was crazy fast. I didn't drive that one fast either only because I was scared of it! I did love the acceleration though. I had to hang on to the handlebars with that bike. I also had a Honda Valkyrie that was just insanely fast. That bike could keep up with crotch rockets either at the light or on the highway.
My Ultra is an old man with a hip replacement!!!
